Some Background
The best Walkers have articulated a sincere wish for some manner of regulation so that a standard of best practices can be formalized into mainstream use, and so that a framework of compliance to standards and accountability may exist.
The industry preferred self-regulation over government-imposed regulation because the industry is nuanced and highly specialized, and more capable of defining best standards on its own than a third party could. The evolution of animal welfare laws across Canada also provides a legal framework that is, essentially, regulatory.
Our Approach
In earnest, CDWA was created with its specific scope to provide a framework for self-regulation and professional development that is collaboratively built, and to provide the necessary services and supports that will facilitate individual, industry and animal successes.
