WE ESTABLISHED A SET OF VALUES AND STANDARDS in our Code of Ethics that the majority of Walkers already abide by, so for many practitioners, it’s nothing new. What is new is that we are vetting members by their professional, educational and personal credentials, to build public trust.
Vetting | What We Ask of Walkers
We are asking that Walkers submit verifiable credentials. With these, we are able to officially endorse Members who are formally trained, bonded, insured and permit-carrying (when applicable), and in full agreement with the Code of Ethics. All together, these components speak to each Walker’s commitment to the humane treatment of animals and people, and their professional caliber, overall.
Public proof of assurance builds trust and the Industry’s profile, as a whole.
Beyond this, and over time, criteria will level-up to form higher standards, through an acknowledgement and reward system for continuing education. Under your leadership and guidance, everyone you come into contact with will benefit from the superior information and recommendations you provide.
Standards | How we Treat Animals in Care
Modern dog training and management employs the methods, tools and tactics of sophisticated, academically-backed learning theory and positive motivational protocols. The emphasis is placed on positive-based learning, without excessive consequences and inhumane tools and treatment. We support LIMA-Balanced, Positive Reinforcement (R+) and Force-Free practitioners.
This philosophy is reflected in our Code of Ethics and governs how the best practitioners treat animals in their care. Positive experiences. Patience in training. No Walker-delivered punishments. No aversive tools.
