CDWA is legally registered as a Not-for-Profit Association. We are mandated by law to pay forward a percentage of revenue to another legitimate not-for-profit, every year. CDWA has an innovative way to raise funds for us all and support the organizations we care about.
The Hungry for Humane Lottery is an amazing program that addresses our pay-it-forward obligation. It is for Walkers and the general public to participate in.
How it Works
The Walker community is aware of the best causes out there—rescues, shelters, sanctuaries, etc.—and we can assemble a list of the best ones with the best governance. At that point, CDWA will invite the chosen entities to apply to qualify for needed funding. They have to substantiate their legal NFP or Charity status to qualify (this is a legal requirement).
Once we have assembled a trusted list of potential beneficiaries to the lottery proceeds, we conduct a lottery and promote it in every way possible: through social media, word of mouth, and to our animal loving clients.
The benefits of participating are that we raise funds for a great cause every year, and we also vote a winner from those who donate, who receives a portion of the total raise in a cash prize for donating—that’s the lottery part. The value of the cash prize will be relative to the funds raised.
The more we promote the lottery, the more funding we generate for causes and the donor winner. Everyone wins.
More on this to come shortly.
