Training + Management Style
Force-Free, Positive Reinforcement
Erin established Ruffin’ It in 2015 after working with another dog walking business for a few years.
Wishing to focus solely on private and semi-private walks, with a special interest in rescue dogs and dogs with health or behavioural issues, Ruffin’ It grew quickly and soon began offering small group walks with a hard maximum of 4 dogs per group.
These days, Ruffin’ it provides on-foot leash walks, both private and group, as well as puppy visits, relief breaks and boarding. Erin believes in setting all her clients up for success, if a dog is not thriving in group walks, she transitions them into private walks or refers to a trainer in the area, should the pup need more specialized support from walk-and-train.
Erin is currently completing her Dog Training Certification through Canine Correspondence Studies and hopes to move into Dog Training in the future. She also has a certificate in Dog Cognition from Duke University.
Before dog walking, Erin rode and trained horses for 15 years and was a Feline Enrichment Volunteer at the Toronto Humane Society. She has been working with dogs, professionally since 2014, and has clients of all shapes, sizes and personalities, all the while maintaining her specialty with rescues.
